Disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein has been convicted on charges of rape and a criminal sexual assault after being found guilty by a jury in New York.

Weinstein is now facing a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of more than two decades. Following today's verdict, he was handcuffed and taken into custody.

Weinstein had been in court for a total of five charges, three of which were dropped after a lengthy deliberation by the jury.

Weinstein was convicted of criminal sexual assault in the first degree based on the testimony of former Project Runway production assistant Miriam Haley. He was also found guilty of rape in the third degree based on the testimony of former actor Jessica Mann. 

The verdict was announced today after five long days of deliberation from the jury, which was composed of seven women and five men. 

The charges that were dropped include predatory sexual assault, which can be sentenced with up to life in prison.

For now, we will wait to learn what Weinstein's sentencing will be.

Weinstein still faces at least four charges in Los Angeles, with at least eight sexual assault cases having been recently added to the investigation.
